We would like to find someone to choreograph a 13-15 solo for an unaffiliated swimmer.
Sorry for the late reply. Where are situated?
Hi Vanessa, I’m glad I’ve found your website. I am mom of a 10-year-old synchro swimmer. My daughter and I learn a lot from your postings and links. Thank you for all the exercises and information put in your website. They are very useful resources.
I am glad you are both finding the blog useful. Let me know if you have any requests.
Hi Vanessa, We had an athlete approach a coach tonight and told us she has no idea how to count or count to music. We are really struggling with teaching her how to count the beat or use the music rythm to count (she is 12&U, the music picked for their routine is not challenging whatsoever). Help!!
You could bring the music in to get a metronome beat put underneath the music to make it obvious what to count. Perhaps trying pointing out where some obvious beats are and what count that is. If it is a solo you could change the music. You could try clapping to music. In other parts of practice het her to do this to counts and music. For example, in dryland have music on and go to a certain beat where different swimmers count out loud. I have seen and coached two athletes who found counting almost impossible. it takes a lot of work and patience. I hope that helps.
